What is FIRST?

     FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an organization founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen to encourage young kids and teens to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)  by using a competitive sports model. FIRST has something for people of all ages. There are multiple competition levels that give students from elementary school to high school the opportunity to participate in FIRST activities. The most important principles of FIRST is, gracious professionalism. Gracious professionalism means that all participants are expected to be gracious and respectful to one another even if you're competing against them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    Resurgence participates in FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition). Each year FIRST creates a new game challenge, and every FRC team is given a six week period of time to design, program, and construct a robot capable of competing against other robots and meeting the objectives of the game.
